This month we are going to provide a REAL activity that is a great tactile developmental idea that will assist toddler age children.

Yes, moon sand is that simple. Just 2 simple ingredients. Your little one can even help with making it including mixing. I even admit that I like playing with this stuff. It is soft to the touch, and hiding different things including flower petals, rocks, sticks, seeds, cars, etc makes playing with this sand so much fun.
When playing with moon sand with a toddler ask questions about how it feels, show how it is easy to squeeze and make a mass, press it into cookie cutters, make roads, press your hands into it to make a handprint. This sand is between playdough and regular sand. It is an activity I have had the pleasure of sharing with a lot of children and they have all really enjoyed it. Use it as a tool to talk and teach your children about nature, textures, how different objects work when restrained and if size makes a difference.
Explore. You and your children should explore together; it isn’t just about the craft it’s about learning all the different ideas and aspects that can be expressed and explored when crafting.
