Wrapping Presents…YUCK!!!

xmaswrap

I’m going to say it….I HATE gift wrapping! Don’t get me wrong; the presents you see above are wrapping fantasy. I’ve taken time to do these. They are so beautiful under a tree but gee wiz; it takes 20 minutes a present and then WHAM approximately 2-10 seconds to unwrap it, which is as it should be, but what a lot of effort for 3 seconds. I know, we all say; but it made the tree so lovely to see all the millions of presents all decorated so nicely for the month of December. I say BOO! Boo, boo, boo!

Isn’t Christmas, Hannukah or whatever holiday you celebrate stressful enough without all the sweat of making present presentation part of the decor? Remember the good old days when you had some decorations, lights, and a few hand towels and that was it for Christmas? Now, my word! You have to have special dishes, glasses, flatware, candles, serving trays, matching wrapping, theme trees, napkins, and the list goes on.

Well enough  is enough. I, for one, am not going to stress wrapping. I’m going to get some gift bags, tape, and just plain old Christmas wrap, and tissue paper. I’m not going to spend another $20 per present on the wrapping of the presents that are costly enough.

I’m still going to enjoy Christmas and the holiday season even if I don’t have the most beautiful presents under the tree. I’m going to decide to have  a stress less Christmas and that is going to be the gift I give myself.

I ask you to join me in my pledge to taking back Christmas from the Hollywood version that we all try to live up to. I’m going to have a few presents badwrapping (wrapped in a homely manner but with love) under the tree, a few decorations, a tiny tree (see image below), and enjoy the heck out of my friends and family with lots of laughter, good food, and a libation here and there. I’m even going to host a Gingerbread House making party for the homeless families in Denver  with just Christmas music, but it will be a lot of fun with lots of heart!
